Astove, an Aldabra giant tortoise, is the oldest animal at the Singapore Zoo. Astove measures over 1 meter long, and weighs nearly 300 kilograms. He is an herbivore and eats a variety of plants like grass, sweet potatoes, carrots, tomatoes, and cucumbers.

Despite his big size, what people love about Astove is how gentle and friendly he is. He stays calm and interacts with both zookeepers and the visitors.

She found a permanent home at the Singapore Zoo in 1971 when she was about 11 years old. She passed away on February 8, 2008, at the age of around 50 years. Thousands of people attended a heartfelt funeral to honor her legacy.
